The 4-day road to Choquequirao runs through mountainous landscapes until it reaches the archaeological site of Choquequirao.

Choquequirao is considered “The last refuge of the Inca empire”, visitors will have the opportunity to discover a complex hydraulic system. There are many similarities between Choquequirao and Machupicchu.

Trek to Choquequirao 4 Days

This is an incredible walk that will take you to one of the last refuges of the Inca civilization. Choquequirao is an archaeological site that is still under bushes and in the process of restoration, located in the surroundings of the Salkantay mountain and the Apurimac river, during the journey you will observe wonderful mountain landscapes, as well as Andean flora and fauna.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Cusco – Cachora – Capuliyoc – Chikisca.
    • Camp in Chikisca.
  • Day 2: Chikisca – Playa Rosalina – Santa Rosa – Marampata.
    • Camp in Marampata.
  • Day 3: Marampata – Choquequirao – Marampata.
    • Camp in Marampata.
  • Day 4: Marampata – Santa Rosa – Rosalina Beach – Chikisca – Capuliyoc.
    • Return to the city of Cusco.
  1. Day 1: Cusco - Cachora - Capuliyoc - Chikisca

    Early in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel, at approximately 4:00 am, to go by transport to the town of San Pedro de Cachora, which is 4 hours away, in this place we will have breakfast, and then go to towards Capuliyoc, in this place the guide will show you Choquequiro in the distance and a large part of the way to travel, as well as the impressive Apurimac canyon, we will continue the walk for approximately 4 hours until we reach Chikisca, in this place we will have our lunch and the where we will spend the night.

  2. Day 2: Chikisca - Rosalina Beach - Santa Rosa - Marampata

    This day we will start with an early breakfast in our camp, we will begin our walk along the Apurimac Valley, for approximately 3 hours, after crossing the Apurimac River we will arrive at Santa Rosa, where we will take a short rest, we will continue our walk for approximately 2 hours until we reach Marampata where we will learn about agriculture and the Quechua lifestyle, we will spend the night in a lodging house and a comforting dinner.

  3. Day 3: Marampata - Choquequirao - Marampata

    Early in the morning we will enjoy our breakfast, then we will start our walk for approximately 1 hour and a half until we reach the Inca City of Choquequirao, where we will have a guided tour exploring this wonderful archaeological site. We will visit different places such as the main square, the agricultural terraces , the terraces with flames and much more. In the afternoon we will start the return to the Choquequirao camp where our lunch awaits us, after a short rest we will continue our walk towards Marampata where our dinner will wait for us and where we will spend the night.

  4. Day 4: Rosalinas Beaches - Capuliyoc - Cachora - Cusco

    After our breakfast, we will begin our walk back to Capuliyoc, following the same path, and then head to Rosalina Beach and then to Chikisca where we will have our lunch, and then continue through the Apurimac Valley to Capuliyoc where our transportation awaits us to take us back to Cusco.
