The Road to Choquequirao
The archaeological complex of Choquequirao is known as "The sacred sister of Machupicchu" due to the great similarity that exists between both Inca sites. Choquequirao is a Quechua word that means "Cradle of Gold".
It is located in the jungle of the Peruvian Andes, at 3,033 meters above sea level. Due to its location, it is believed that this ancient Inca enclosure served as a checkpoint between the main Inca sites such as Pisac, Cusco and Machupicchu.
